Dear Clarabella,

I remember our first encounter in St Joseph’s playground when we were 8. 
That was the first time (of many) that I was on the receiving end of one of your legendary ‘Paddington’ stares - I think I may have made a disparaging comment about your socks (I was probably jealous because you were tall and slim with long legs and I wasn’t).

Much has changed since we first met nearly half a century ago, but we managed to stay in touch and remain good friends throughout. 
As Alison said the last time we were together 
“You are our beloved friend” …and always will be
